James H. Nichols
CLSI's President-Elect, James H. Nichols, PhD, DABCC, FACB, is a Professor of Pathology, Microbiology, and Immunology and Medical Director of Clinical Chemistry and Point-of-Care Testing at the Vanderbilt University School of Medicine in Nashville, Tennessee. He is board certified in both Clinical Chemistry and Toxicological Chemistry by the American Board of Clinical Chemistry. Dr. Nichols spent several years as Associate Director of Clinical Chemistry, Director of Point-of-Care Testing, and Associate Professor of Pathology at Johns Hopkins Medical Institutions. He later served as Medical Director of Clinical Chemistry for Baystate Health in Springfield, Massachusetts, and was a Professor of Pathology at Tufts University School of Medicine. Dr. Nichols’ research interests span evidence-based medicine, information management, laboratory automation, point-of-care testing, and toxicology.

Reynolds (Ren) M. Salerno
Reynolds (Ren) M. Salerno, PhD is the Director, Division of Laboratory Systems, Center for Surveillance, Epidemiology, and Laboratory Services for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Dr. Salerno, who became Director of the Division of Laboratory Systems in January 2016, has an international reputation for excellence in promoting the safe, secure, and responsible handling of dangerous biological agents in laboratory settings. His previous position as Senior Manager for Biological Sciences and Technologies at Sandia National Laboratories included work with laboratory quality systems, biosafety, biosecurity, biocontainment, and infectious disease diagnostics. Dr. Salerno is the co-author of Laboratory Biosecurity Handbook (CRC Press, 2007) and Laboratory Biorisk Management: Biosafety and Biosecurity (CRC Press, 2015). Dr. Salerno is a member of the American Society for Microbiology, the American Biological Safety Association, and the Association for Public Health Laboratories. He currently serves on APHL’s Biosafety and Biosecurity Committee.

Darlene Solomon
Darlene Solomon, PhD, is senior vice president and chief technology officer for Agilent Technologies. Her responsibilities include Agilent Research Laboratories which focuses on high impact, longer range research in support of Agilent's sustained business growth, and Agilent's programs in university relations, external research and venture investment. In her leadership role, she works closely with Agilent's businesses to define the company's technology strategy and R&D priorities. Solomon serves on the board of directors at Materion Corporation. She also participates in multiple academic and government advisory and review boards, including current and recent appointments to the National Academies' Board on Chemical Sciences and Technology, Visiting Committee on Advanced Technology of the National Institutes of Standards and Technology, Stanford Interdisciplinary Life Sciences Council, UC Berkeley's College of Engineering Advisory Board, and Singapore National Research Foundation's Scientific Advisory Board.

Gary W. Procop
Gary W. Procop, MD, MS is the Director of Molecular Microbiology, Virology, Mycology, and Parasitology at the Cleveland Clinic. He is past Chair of the Departments of Clinical Pathology and Molecular Pathology, and past Section Head for Clinical and Molecular Microbiology. He is a diplomat of the American Board of Pathology in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology, and Medical Microbiology. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Microbiology, the College of American Pathologists, the American Society for Clinical Pathology, the Infectious Diseases Society of America, and the Royal Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene. He is a Trustee and a past President of the American Board of Pathology. He has given more than 615 scientific presentations, and has 204 published manuscripts, 49 chapters, and three books to his credit. His primary interests are developing and promoting best practices in laboratory testing, the practical applications of molecular diagnostic methods for the diagnosis and treatment of infections, infectious disease pathology, mycology, and parasitology.
