World Antibiotic Awareness Week—November 13-19, 2017
11/15/2017
Antibiotic resistance is one of the biggest public health threats in the world today. We celebrate World Antibiotic Awareness Week this week, November 13-19. The World Health Organization (WHO) is promoting its campaign with a webpage containing helpful fact sheets and videos about antimicrobial resistance, as well as fun interactive games and quizzes. There’s also a campaign materials section with social media posts and GIFs you can share to help spread the word about antibiotic resistance.
The medical laboratory is responsible for providing information about antimicrobial resistance to clinicians to help them choose the right treatment options for their patients. Through our microbiology resources and standards like M100, CLSI helps laboratorians provide this service. In January, CLSI will publish the 28th edition of M100, Performance Standards for Antimicrobial Susceptibility Testing, which provides tables for CLSI antimicrobial susceptibility testing standards M02 and M07.
